When the summer holiday hits, it can be difficult to think of activities to fill up your little ones time, not to mention hard on your pocket! However, with a little imagination, keeping our children entertained needn’t cost an arm and a leg.

For children (and as a big kid) the outdoors should be seen as one big play ground waiting to be explored.   Craft bakery, Bettys have been helping to plant and protect trees around the world since 1990 and have come up with interesting ways to get children interacting with nature from an early age.

As well as helping school children to nurture British native trees, they have been bringing the magic of den building back to the summer holidays taking trips into the wood, to get creative and see what structures they can come up with. You can see what children from Ashlands Primary School thought of it in the video below.

So when, you’re stuck for ideas this summer holiday, just look to the outdoors for a little inspiration. You could always build your den indoors if the weather is being typically British!
