Sing along, have a bop, eat, drink and get your child’s face painted – festival season is upon us again.

From family-friendly music festivals with posh loos, to food festivals and agricultural shows – Surrey’s got a fantastic calendar of live summer events to choose from.

We’ve tried to include them all here, but please let us know of any other gems you know about…

Festival of Surrey – 24 & 25 June

Discover Surrey in a family-friendly atmosphere. There will be a large selection of exhibitors, workshops, interactive and creative sessions. Enjoy some polo, retail therapy, and entertainment throughout the day. There is even an evening concert featuring Kenney Jones and the Jones Gang with support from the ever popular Willie Austen.  


SamFest – June 24

A music festival showcasing some of the local and surrounding area’s top talents. Over 20 acts perform an array of different music, covers and originals. There is also an arts and crafts market and fun fair.


Farnham Carnival – June 25

This year’s theme is: day at the seaside.

The carnival fayre takes place in Gostrey Meadow, from 2pm until 9pm, and includes live music, games, stalls and food. The carnival procession leaves Upper Hart Car Park at 6pm and winds its way around the town for about an hour and half.


One Live – July 8

Channel 4’s Supervet Professor Noel Fitzpatrick’s ‘show with a heart’ takes place in Guildford’s Stoke Park this year and aims to spread the word about One Medicine – making the world a better place for animals and humans.

The line-up includes The Boomtown Rats, The Darkness, Republica, Melanie C, Reverend and The Makers, Toploader and Hunter and the Bear.

Under 12s are FREE.


The Bourne Show – July 15

A traditional village show for all the family to raise money for local charities and good causes.

The day will include a dog show, stalls, a petting zoo, climbing wall, magic show, children’s races, a vintage car show and a grand marquee showing entries to the arts, crafts and home produce classes.


Albury Music Festival – July 16

This family-friendly festival of live music festival aims to give local musicians a platform whilst raising money for charity. Food and drink stands, lots of stalls, the ubiquitous bouncy castle and some face painting should also add to the fun!


Cheese and Chilli Festival – July 22 & 23

An amazing array of flavours, colours and experiences! A great family day out with something for everyone, including live music, demonstrations, chilli eating competition, tastings, children's activities, falconry display, reptile centre, real ale and cider bar plus loads more - and children go FREE!


Frimley Lodge Live - August 5 & 6 

Sing along to some of your favourite tunes with this weekend of tribute acts for all the family, including Abba Fever and Vogue Madonna, Blobbie Williams, Starman (David Bowie) and more.


Weyfest – August 18-20

Buzzcocks, Alison Moyet and Jools Holland are just the headline acts at this popular three-day, family friendly music festival.

Other acts in this year’s line-up include Hayseed Dixie, Stereo MCs, Mike Sanchez, Ralph McTell and Atomic Rooster.

The toilets are ‘posh and clean’, alcohol ‘reasonably priced’, camp site ‘beautiful’, showers ‘hot’ and there is plenty for the children to do and enjoy including workshops, train rides and the museum itself.


Victorious Festival – August 25-27

Madness, Stereophonics and Elbow headline this three-day music festival in Portsmouth. Other acts confirmed include Olly Murs, Rita Ora, Jake Bugg, The Charlatans, Frank Turner, Slaves, Franz Ferdinand and Feeder.

The Kids’ Arena includes a stage brimming with household names, a circus, arts and crafts, face painting, roaming performers, character meet and greets, sports tasters, a beach area, baby changing, a breastfeeding tent and more.


Egham Royal Show – August 26 & 27

The show includes marquees packed with delights of horticulture, intricate model engines and craft stands.

Entertainment includes fairground rides, tombola, Punch & Judy shows, a bouncy castle a Junior GP electric go-kart track, boating pond, falconry, archery and an animal marquee complete with displays of rare poultry, livestock competitions and an educational section on the narrative of milk. 


Woking Food & Drink Festival – September 1-3

Award-winning festival with a wine and cheese zone, bite-size talks, interactive shows with Katy Ashworth, celebrity chefs, stalls and much more. This is FREE to attend and takes place in the town centre.


Always The Sun – September 8-10

An independent community arts and music festival in Guildford’s Stoke Park.

The event showcases the best local, national and internationally acclaimed artists and emerging talent, across our four music stages. Other attractions include a wellness area, creative workshops, an outdoor kitchen with engaging demonstrations, comedy and more.


Haslemere Food Festival - September 23

A celebration of local food and drink with stalls, live entertainment, demonstrations and tastings. There is also a dedicated children’s zone.


Farnham Food and Drink Festival – September 30

The popular Food and Drink Festival is one of the biggest in the South East of England.

Castle Street will be transformed into a bustling marketplace as sellers offer tasty treats to try and buy. From local suppliers to handmade crafted chocolate, this event is a foodie heaven!

Local musicians will also be entertaining the crowds throughout the day and other activities will be going on, keeping the entire family entertained.


Guildford Book Festival October 8-15

Events take place at venues across the town over 10 days and include appearances by high profile writers, including many teen and children’s authors. See the website for more details of individual events.
