There’s no right or wrong answer on this Incredible Inventions family trail, it’s all up to you to decide what tool you want to invent. Spot the trail boards around the Pleasure Grounds with a different step to complete an outstanding invention.

Along the route also look out for letters hidden on our trail boards and un-jumble these letters to spell out a word.

Suitable for 4 to 12 year olds you can collect your Incredible Inventions trail from the Car Park or Church Lodge Receptions at £3 each.  The route is suitable for buggies on a paved route but can be muddy in wet weather. Please collect your prize from receptions before 4:30pm.

This unusual family of plants, sometimes known as the Arum or Philodendron family, will be the star of the show with giant leaves and its distinctive flower shape. Aroids are a fascinating group of plants, grown for their unusual flowers and sometimes dramatic foliage. The arum family (Araceae) is a diverse and fascinating group of herbaceous plants that have successfully climbed (Monstera), floated (Lemna) and spread (Arum) their way through the past 122 million years of evolutionary history. Their defining characteristic is the unusual flower structure. Many small flowers are packed tightly together around a club-like spadix, which is in turn surrounded by a hooded spathe. Free with normal Garden admission.

Wild Tots provides a wonderful opportunity for your little ones to experience and learn from nature.  Sessions include arts & crafts, games, exploration, mud kitchens, mini beasts and so much more.

Unleash your little ones on the great outdoors with Surrey Wildlife Trust!  Suitable for 2-5 year olds, accompanied by an adult (accompanying babes in arms FREE).

Booking essential, Pay as you Go.  You only need to book a place for the child attending the event.

A series of short talks by one of our costumed interpreters, each spotlighting one of the many fascinating and accomplished women who have been entertained here at Polesden, as part of Margaret Greville's social circle. 

Each of the women featured was a woman of power and influence in her own right, making her mark in a man's world, using her bravery, intellect, position, wealth, charm, beauty ... or a combination of them all. These women all made a difference to society, and history, in different ways . The talks will be outdoors (covered) in the tea room loggia, by the west lawn.

She will be covering things such as menu ideas / recipes, picnic ideas for babies, things that can be made in advance etc.  She will also be bringing samples for little ones to try! Holly is a qualified nutritionist, top chef and mother to 2 little ones, the youngest of whom is 9 months so she has very recent experience of weaning! Birds of Prey Weekend at RHS Wisley

The birds’ handlers will be around to answer questions when not flying the birds at 11am and 2pm. Free with normal Garden admission.

Train rides at Great Cockrow Railway

The Great Cockcrow Railway is open every Sunday from 6th May until 28th October. We operate from 1.30pm till 5.00pm with the booking office closing at 4:45pm.

We will also be running on Wednesdays from 1st to 29th August. Trains run from 1:00pm till 4:00pm, with the last tickets being sold at 3.45pm.

 

Trust10 10K runs at Polesden Lacey

Are you a regular runner looking for a challenge? Our 10k trail runs give you the opportunity to train for the next big event, or keep fit whilst enjoying the beautiful surroundings of some of our special places.

The route at Polesden Lacey will consist of a variety of terrains and will take the runners through Ranmore Common - it will be a real treat for experienced runners and beginners alike! It is not a competitive event and is not timed. Just turn up with friends, family or on your own to run with other like-minded runners.

Farnham Food Festival

National Sporting Heritage Day 2018 at The Hockey Museum

Come visit The Hockey Museum in Woking Surrey on Sunday 30 September between 10am and 4pm to celebrate National Sporting Heritage Day.   This nationwide event aims to raise awareness of sporting heritage within UK museums and encourage new and different audiences to engage with these collections.   The Hockey Museum will be showing Olympic gold medals won by Great Britain teams. Former England and Great Britain players will be attending throughout the day.   You can show off your hockey skills on the street and explore the museum's current exhibition which features some additional Olympic items. So don't miss it!

Walk4Hope in Richmond Park

The walk will follow the Tamsin Trail, It is 10KM long and will take approximately 4 to 5 hours at a gentle pace. We aim to be at Isabella Plantation around Midday for a picnic. 

 Coronation Street's Shelley King will be walking too!

Registration fee of £10 and participants will be required to fundraise £50 for HOPE.

The start point will be at Roehampton Gate car park – SW15 5JR from 10:00 am, leaving Roehampton Gate car park at 10:30 am.

Brooklands Great War 100

Join us as we mark the centenary of the start of World War One, with a special event encompassing the many aspects of Brooklands’ involvement in the Great War of 1914 – 1918. For this special event we will be gathering automobiles, motorcycles, bicycles, commercial vehicles, buses and aircraft from the period up to 1919. The event will also feature pre-1919 and military vehicles and “living history” demonstrations from re-enactor groups with drills and parades.
