There's nothing more magical than the look on a child's face as they meet Santa - it's a moment you want to bottle and keep forever. We don't want you to miss out on this priceless moment with your children so we've made you a list of all the grottos we can find in Surrey...

Pre booking is essential for most of these, unless otherwise stated, and the earlier the better as many of them do get fully booked quite quickly:

Alice Holt Forest (pictured)

Dates: November: 22, 23, 29, 30, December 6, 7, 13 and every day until December 14. 10am to 5pm.

Cost: £22 per child and adults go free.

Description: Meet Father Christmas, his elves and reindeer. Walk the mini- illuminated trail into the forest to one of the beautiful yurts. Take part in a fun-filled drama and festive arts and crafts workshop before being taken to meet Father Christmas and receiving a gift to take home. Children also get a chance to pat and feed Santa's reindeer.

The Medicine Garden

Dates: December 6 and 7, 13 and 14 – from 3pm-4pm

Cost: £8

Description: Visit Santa and enjoy an afternoon at the walled garden – you might even get some shopping done while you’re there!

Brooklands Museum

Dates: December 6, 13 and 20

Cost: For children aged 5-11, normal museum admission of £6 is payable + £5 for a visit to Santa (includes a small present). Accompanying adults and seniors pay normal museum admission. For children under 5, admission to the museum is FREE and they can visit Santa for £5.

Description: Once again Santa will be giving his reindeer a rest for a while and borrowing the museum’s VC10 aircraft so that he can meet his young fans.

Squire’s garden centres (Badshot Lea, Milford and Shepperton)

Dates: November 22-December 24

Cost: £7 or £8 per child and £3 per adult

Description: Magical grotto: interactive live magic show, followed by a visit with Santa. Continue your magical journey to see Santa in his candy cane grotto. Tell him about your Christmas wish list and receive an early Christmas present. The experience is enjoyable for the whole family and will take up to 25 minutes.

Dates: Weekends in December and then every day from December 17-24

Cost: £7.25 per child, £2 per adult

Description: Santa’s Cellar Grotto. Meet Santa’s elves, enjoy an outdoor train ride followed by a visit to see Father Christmas to tell him your Christmas wishes. Children receive a gift and sticker book and can take part in arts and crafts. Adults get a mince pie.

Painshill Park Crystal Grotto (pictured)

Dates: December 6-24

Cost: £9 per child and £7 per adult (adult members free)

Description: For a truly magical experience visit Father Christmas in the Crystal Grotto at Painshill 18th century landscape garden. Follow the festive route through the beautiful surroundings to Grotto Island. Here you will enter the Christmas Wishing Tent where children will receive an activity pack. Elves will then guide you into the crystal Grotto to meet Father Christmas. Hundreds of thousands of crystals will sparkle all around you as your children share their wish and receive a gift.

Chessington Garden Centre (pictured)

Dates: November 15 to December 24

Cost: £11 per child, £3.50 per adult

Description: Your visit to Santa’s Wonderland Grotto will start with a short animated film starring the much loved Rocket the Reindeer. You will then begin your magical trip through Santa’s wonderland grotto, via the magic wardrobe of a quiet country house and into the fantasy world of Narnia. Your trip will conclude with your very own personal meeting with Father Christmas to receive a wrapped gift.

Bourne Valley Garden Centre

Dates: Saturdays in December (check website for exact dates and times)

Cost: £7.99 per child for breakfast/tea or £2.99-£4.99 for grotto visit (depending on age)

Visit Santa in his grotto or choose to have breakfast or tea with Santa at the garden centre and receive a gift.

Dates: Weekends from November 29-December 21, plus December 22-24

Cost: Prices vary depending on age and whether you want to visit the park as well, but start at £4.95.

Description: Meet Santa’s reindeer and some of our friendly farm animals before you enter a magical world full of animated characters in winter wonderland settings. As you walk through the different scenes, you can enjoy the friendly banter with the impish elves before the children meet Santa to receive their present.

Belfry Shopping Centre

Description: Brighten up a shopping trip with a visit to Father Christmas in his grotto.

Bocketts Farm

Dates: 27th November 27 to December 24

Cost: £10.95 or £6.95 if you are already visiting the park

Description: Hop on board the Santa Express trailer for a short trip to his magical haybarn workshop. Once inside, each child will meet Santa and receive a wrapped gift! This cannot be booked in advance. When you arrive at the farm, you will be given tickets for an allocated time.

Gatton Park

Dates: November 30 to December 7

Cost: £5 per child

Description: Enjoy a golf buggy ride to Santa in his grotto, explore the grounds following a trail of clues and then return to Gatton Hall to make a Christmas decoration.

Legoland (pictured)

Dates: November 22 to December 24

Cost: £25 or £29 during peak times

Description: Jump aboard the magical Bricksmas Express.Follow the sound of sleigh bells to Santa’s Grotto in the heart of the park, where kids can receive their very own LEGO® gift from the jolly gentleman himself!Your ticket includes access to the park for the day.

Paultons Park

Dates: Selected dates from November 15 to December 23 (see website)
Cost: Prices vary depending on age of child, but start at £5.50

Description: Inside the Christmas Wonderland children step into a festive dreamworld with adorable animated characters at every turn. At the end of the journey children meet Father Christmas and receive an exciting present. Meet Peppa Pig and George in their winter scarves, hats and coats and watch a 4D adventure film. Ticket prices include entry into the park.

Haslemere Museum

Dates: December 7

Description: Santa will be at the Museum as part of the Christmas Market between 11am and 3pm. Visit him and receive a small gift. No need to book.

Rural Life Centre

Description: Ride on The Old Kiln Light Railway and meet Santa in his grotto. See live animals, a toy workshop and model railway display and buy seasonal refreshments and gifts.

Description: A train ride to Santa's Grotto and return, a present from Father Christmas, and a hot drink and a mince pie for the adults.

The Watercress Line

Description: See Santa on a steam train as you take a one hour round trip through the scenic Hampshire countryside. Santa visits every child at their seat with a special gift. Includes white wine and mince pie for the grown-ups and soft drinks for the children.

Description: Meet Santa, tell him you’ve been good and receive an early gift. Bring your letters to post in the Christmas post box. No need to book.

Description: A personal visit to Santa in his own winter wonderland, including a special gift. You can also choose to join Santa in the restaurant for breakfast or tea and enjoy a magical experience of fun games and activities, a lovely present and story-telling from Santa himself (limited dates in December).

Dates: December 1-24

Cost: £9.99 per child

Description: Enjoy breakfast or tea with Father Christmas and then join his elves to welcome him as he arrives from the North Pole. Little ones then meet Father Christmas and get to choose their very own present. They are also given a Christmas tree cookie to decorate.

Buy tickets to meet Santa is his traditional grotto. This is part of a family festive weekend including children's rides, choirs and pony rides, all in aid of the Children's Trust.

Crockford Bridge Farm (pictured)

Dates: Every weekend in December until Christmas

Cost: £10 per child including gift and £3.50 per adult

Visit Father Christmas and his enchanted helpers in his Secret Forest and tell him your Christmas wishes. The walk is through a real forest with Woodland Elves and is really enchanting and magical with lots to experience and enjoy. No bookings, just turn up and pay on the day. You can also pick your Christmas tree while you are there!
