Local company aat events are encouraging children in Guildford to compete in a sport that’s not readily available to them: Aquathlon! The majority of Surrey children who are 7 and over can swim and run, but may not have competed in the two together! The kids aquathlon event is taking place on 29 th May 2016 alongside Guildford’s first and only Triathlon at the state of the art Surrey Sports Park. The event will involve a sprint distance triathlon for adults, and shorter “Tristar” distance aquathlons for kids aged 8yrs (as of 31st December 2016). All finishers will receive a coveted ‘Guildford Triathlon’ medal.
The youngest kids (7-8yrs) will complete a 50m swim followed by a 600m run. Kids aged 9-12yrs will swim 200m and then run 2km, and the older kids (13-14yrs) will swim 300m and then complete their 3km run. Those older than 14yrs are encouraged to join in the fun and take part in a 500m swim, 20km cycle and 5km run as part of a relay team or as a solo ‘sprint triathlon’ entrant.
As most of all adult and kids places have already sold, spaces for this event are extremely limited. Those who are interested are urged to book now before places run out. To sign up online or for more information, click HERE . Entry fees are £45 for adults and £18 for kids, but these prices are due to increase on 8th May 2016.
