As any parent knows, Christmas starts early when you’ve got children. It’s time to book your visit to Santa in one of Surrey’s many lovely grottos before they all sell out.
There’s lots of lovely options to choose from; we’ve included as many as we can here but please let us know of any we have missed.
Santa’s Snow Train and Crystal Grotto at Painshill Park
When: Dec 1-22
Cost: £18.50 per child and £10 per adult
Take a magical train trip to see Santa in the incredible Grade 1 listed Crystal Grotto. Every child can get a present from Santa and his elves
Visit Santa at Haslemere Museum
When: Dec 1, 11am - 3pm
Cost: £3 - no need to book
Santa will be paying a surprise visit to the museum as part of the Christmas market. Little ones can meet Santa and tell him all their special Christmas wishes. Each child will receive a gift to take home.
Santa’s Victorian Parlour at Haslmere Museum
When: Dec 20, 21, 23, 24
Cost: £5 - no need to book
Visit Santa as he takes time out before Christmas to relax in his charming Victorian Parlour. Little ones can tell him all their Christmas wishes and each child will receive a gift to take home.
Santa Specials at The Rural Life Centre
When: Dec 7, 8, 14, 15
Cost: £14.50 per child and £9.50 per adult
The Rural Life Centre is transformed into a Christmas wonderland with something to enchant young and old alike. Take a ride through the woods on the Old Kiln Light Railway and visit the Elves’ Workshop. There will be a chance to meet animals in their stable. Enter into the Christmas spirit with twinkling lights, festive music and a visit to Father and Mother Christmas in their magical grotto where each child will receive a gift.
Santa Specials on The Watercress Line
When: 30th November and December 1, 7, 8, 14, 15, 21-24
Cost: Adults and children £18
Travel in a festive train carriage for a magical trip where Santa and his jolly helpers visit you in your seat with a gift. Grown-ups get treated to white wine and mince pies, whilst children enjoy a soft drink and a gingerbread man. Each child will also receive an activity pack to keep them entertained.
Squire’s Garden Centres
When: Weekends from November 16 and throughout December
Cost: Various prices
Santa makes his grand arrival at the garden centres from November 16. His grotto will then be open at weekends (please check exact times and dates with specific centres). There are also options to enjoy breakfast with Santa.
When: Nov 22 to Dec 24
Cost: Prices vary and can be included on a farm entry ticket.
Meet Father Christmas in his traditional workshop. Children will hop aboard the Santa express and travel in style to the magical workshop for some festive elf fun. Next you’ll meet Father Christmas himself and receive a special golden coin to spend in his very own toy shop!
Meet Santa and Reindeer at Birdworld
When: Nov 30 to Dec 24
Cost: Prices vary depending on whether you want to include a pass to all Birdworld attractions.
Meet Santa’s reindeer and some friendly farm animals before you enter a magical world. As you walk through the different scenes, you can enjoy the friendly banter with the impish elves before the children meet Santa to receive their present. For those of you who are too old for a present, a mince pie and a hot fruit punch awaits!
Christmas Wonderland at Chessington Garden Centre
When: Nov 23 to Dec 24
Cost: Various prices depending on time
Enjoy a trip through a magical wonderland. Spend time in a craft workshop with the elves before meeting the big man himself and choosing a present. There are also special sessions designed for baby’s first Christmas.
Santa Cruise on the River Wey
When: December 8, 15, 21, 22, 23, 26 and January 1
Cost: £10 per person
Children under 12 years can meet Santa and his helpers and receive a present. Join in the festive songs as you cruise along the canal! Festive refreshments on board are included in the ticket price.
Grotto and fun weekend at Ashtead Park Garden Centre
When: Dec 7, 8
Visit Santa in his cosy grotto and help him raise money for The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity. There will also be rock painting, face painting, pot decorating, an elf hunt and nativity animals, including donkeys, sheep and chickens.
Santa’s grotto at Hobbledown
When: Selected dates between Nov 30 and December 24th
Visit Santa and receive a wrapped gift and a sweet. There are also options to book lunch, brunch or tea with Santa.
Fishers Farm Park
When: Dec 7-24
Cost: Added to the price of your farm entry ticket
The big man himself, Father Christmas, will be taking residency at Fishers Farm again this year. Meet him in his magical and cosy Grotto. Children will get to pick their own present in the mesmerising Toy Factory.
Santa Fir Christmas Tree Farm
When: November 30 and December 1
Cost: check with venue
Meet Santa and his real reindeer and post your letters in the Christmas post box. All children will receive a gift and all Santa proceeds go to charity.
Santa’s Cellar Grotto at Denbies
When: Nov 23, 24, 30 and weekends in December
Cost: £8.25 per child and £3 per adult
Enjoy a warm welcome from Santa’s elves and an outdoor train ride followed by a visit to see Father Christmas. Price includes a gift, train ride, sticker book, crafts and mince pies for the adults.
Father Christmas at Godstone Farm
When: November 23, 24, 30 and December 1, 7, 8, 14, 15, 18-24
Cost: Varies depending on date and time
Let little ones wander through the magical tunnel with friendly elves and be guided to meet the man himself! Watch small eyes light up as each child receives a present and then the adventures continue around the rest of the farm. There will be interactive fun in Wiglet’s Workshop plus Christmas crafts and cookie decorating.
Santa at Claremont
When: Dec 7 & 8
Father Christmas has taken time out of his busy schedule to visit Claremont. He has even decorated the Thatched Cottage to make you all feel festive.
Father Christmas at Hatchlands Park
When: November 30, December 1,7, 8, 21, 22
Meet Father Christmas in his cosy sitting room. Each child will meet Father Christmas and receive a wrapped present from him.
Santa's Grotto at Mizens Railway
When: Dec 8, 15 & 22
Cost: £9 per person plus £2 booking fee
Trains run round the specially decorated site to deliver children to Santa's Grotto where each child will receive a present.
Meet Green Father Christmas at Weald & Downland Museum
When: Dec 7, 8, 14, 15 & 20-23
Cost: £10, including a gift and museum entry
Seated in his chamber, traditionally decorated with seasonal greenery, Green Father Christmas will be selecting presents from a large wooden chest to give to each child that he meets. Every child can spend time with Green Father Christmas before receiving a traditional toy wrapped in brown paper and string.
Santa at Bentalls, Kingston
When: November 7 – December 24
Head into a magical snowy forest to Rudolph's gingerbread stable, where you'll be able to decorate your own gingerbread. Find the secret door taking you into Santa's workshop. There's just enough time for an 'Elfie' in Santa's sleigh, before the main event - your visit with Santa.
Father Christmas at Polesden Lacey
When: Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from November 29-December 8
Children can enjoy craft activities whilst they wait to meet Father Christmas, in his bejewelled grotto. Watch small eyes light up as each child receives a marvellous present from Father Christmas’s toyshop. Afterwards, complete the winter family trail before warming up in the house where you'll discover Mrs Greville's home transformed with gemstones and sparkle.

Enjoy a buggy ride to meet Santa in his grotto. Explore the grounds and follow a trail of clues before returning to Gatton Hall to make a Christmas decoration.
Storytime with Mother Christmas at Morden Hall Park

A festive fun storytelling session for under-fives with Mother Christmas.
Santa at Chobham Adventure Farm

Meet the North Pole’s oldest Elf, attend elf lessons, meet Mrs Claus, help the elves with their important elfie tasks, build your very own bear, not to mention meeting the jolly old big man himself and some real reindeer!
