expensive, no quality coaching

I was amazed to read the other reviews about this club. I have to comment.
My children attended last year and after being roped in to a 3 month contract, when my children were no longer enjoying it, I was told I had to give a 3 month notice! they took the money from my account. Lots of parents have been bitterly disappointed with this group, and complaints have been made direct to the Spectrum, but they do nothing about it. Flair charge £11.41 per hour (you can work out the actual cost per hour with the help of their fees page on their site), charging £49 membership when they are not even a British Gymnastics registered Club. We were up in arms to discover that most of the Flair staff do not even hold a CRB, and Flair do not ask for one. Loads of parents left and made complaints, yet they still operate? Staff were nice enough, but poor quality coaching. It is really like a tumbletots, nothing more than that. Run extremely badly, poor quality management, and when you complain.... guess what? They stop communicating with you. I would recommend that any parent looking to send their child to this group shoul ask to see the coaches CRB checks, and query the cost and ridiculous contract and get-out clauses.
Owners response: We are sorry that our gymnastics club failed to live up to your expectations. We would be willing to invite you to speak with our coaching team to discuss any aspect of your child's learning. We would also like to offer you the chance to try us again for free if you return.
However we must also insist that aspects of your review are misleading, innaccurate and unfair. In fact all of our staff are fully trained and have 'enhanced' CRB checks, contrary to your allegation. Our team even includes former national gymnasts and our company was founded by Richard Dwyer, a former South East of England gymnastics gold medalist. We adhere to strict quality standards and, as we operate out of local authority facilities, our clubs would be shut down if were not complying with the official checks and guidelines.
As regards your complaints about our charges, contract and cancellation policies, we must point out that our prices and terms are available to view on our website in advance of new members joining the club. In addition we even offer every prospective member a free class to make sure that they like the club before they decide to join. We have been delivering coaching to thousands of children in Surrey since 1998, with very many satisfied parents.
We apologise once again for our service failing to meet your expectations, but we must firmly refute your allegations about our staff. If you wish to book our services once more, we will endeavour to improve your experience and give you the chance to try us for free.

My son attends and really enjoys it. He started in micro gym and now goes to an after school class. It is a structured class but I like that. Definitely have seen progression since he started and the teachers are lovely. The children receive awards regularly and the range of skills and equipment used varies each week.
Owners response: Thank you for the kind review Joanne. We are really glad that your son had a positive experience at Flair Gymnastics and that you appreciate the equipment, learning structure and awards scheme. We believe these features are very important in helping to improve children's learning whilst building their confidence. Thanks again for reviewing our club!
Not for us

My daughter didn't go mad for this, but it may be suitable for a different child.
They spend quite a lot of time learning and practising floor routines for the competitions.
My seven-year-old daughter just wanted a gymnastics club where she could have a go at all the different equipment, learn a few new skills like cartwheels and handstands, and just have fun.
There is a vault, trampette, tumble track and air tumbling track. My daughter really wanted to have a go on bars, beam and trampoline, which they do not offer. Trampolining is a separate session.
The children who were motivated did okay and seemed to get enough help. My daughter wasn't as self-motivated, so she didn't really get the attention and therefore didn't really learn a lot.
Owners response: We were very disappointed to hear that your daughter did not have a good experience with Flair and that she felt our coaches did not give her enough attention during class. Our fully qualified coaches, who deliver expert tuition to hundreds of kids each week, are normally able to help every child but, on this occasion, we understand that we have failed to live up to your expectations. We therefore now offer you the chance to try us again for free.
The reason we spend time training on routines is that, in order to progress, the gymnasts need to develop their skills through the structured learning style offered by our in-house curriculum. Our awards scheme then ensures they are rewarded for their achievements, which in turn helps to positively reinforce their improvement and build their confidence.
Even more important than this athletic development, however, is that our classes are fun and enjoyable for the children. We always try to make the sessions entertaining by trying new skills each week, listening to theme music and playing fun warm-up and cool-down games. But since our gymnastics classes were not suited to your child, she would be very welcome to come along and give the trampolining class a test-drive free of charge.
