Darwin Day 2019 at RHS Wisley

There will be a display about Charles Darwin from 9th - 17th February including, on 12th February (Darwin Day), the herbarium specimen that Darwin collected on hid historic voyage on the Beagle in the early 1830s. Included in normal Garden entry, but advance booking brings a 10% discount.

The Great Brick Safari at RHS Wisley

The Great Brick Safari is coming to RHS Garden Wisley. Search for more than 40 animals and plants in the garden and bothe the temperate and tropical zones of the Glasshouse. There will be loads of information about each animal or plant including their habitat, the food they eat and conservation efforts going on around them. You can also join a bricks making workshop in the Glasshouse Gallery; buy your animal and away you go. As a fun souvenir, have your photo taken in the bricks jeep.

Or get mucky to help the gardeners prepare new flower beds and family tasting garden.

There’s feeding, grooming, and milking, all whilst learning about animal husbandry and why the residents at Godstone Farm are so happy! Expect to see leaping lambs in the cosy animal barn, furry and feathered babies in the animal holding area and pretty pink snouts when you’re out and about!

Lambing open day at Miller's Ark Animals

Members of the team welcome and encourage children and adults to:

- groom baby donkeys and ponies,

- tickle the piglets tummies. How many can you make roll over?

Half-Term Create & Grow workshop at Squire's Garden Centres

18-22 February sees the return of the very popular Create & Grow half-term workshops with two of the most popular woodland creatures - the Owl and the Fox  - taking centre-stage as the types of money box to paint and start saving.   There’s no need to book in advance, just turn up on the day and, subject to availability, you can get painting straight away anytime between 10am-4pm.

  • Paint a terracotta Woodland Creatures Money Box, includes:   
  • Spring Garden Colour by Numbers Competition
  • Butterfly Trail Competition   

Available at all Squire’s Garden Centres (except Chertsey).  Cost: £4.75 per child. 

Children can also enjoy a free Butterfly Trail competition around the centre to learn the names of different types of butterfly and a chance to win a prize in a free prize draw – and there’s a Spring Garden colour by numbers to complete and take home.  All participants receive stickers.

Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

Half Term Family Activities at Brooklands Museum

On weekdays during Half Term, our popular car rides will be operating from 11am-1pm and from 2-3.00pm (subject to weather). Take a trip in a vintage-style car up Test Hill or along the Members’ Banking of the old Race Track, courtesy of the Brooklands Volunteer Car Rides Team. Also, London Bus Museum will be operating bus rides around the local area. Pick up one of our trails for children up to 12 years old or try out our Family Workshop. PLUS: Kids tours on Concorde are back, the tour is tailored for our younger audience, with fun and noise encouraged! Limited tours each day, book early to avoid disappointment. Normal museum admission charges apply.

From make and take activities to creative crafts – activities vary daily, so there is always something new to see and to try!

Most activities are included in the admission price (free for Annual Members) but some activities ask for donations – these are clearly marked on the daily flyer, which will be posted on this page the evening before.

Wet weather will not spoil play as most activities are under cover. Activities run from 11am-3pm for accompanied children. Please wear clothes and shoes that are suitable for playing outdoors.

Mini farmer week at Godstone Farm

Lambing open day at Miller's Ark Animals

Members of the team welcome and encourage children and adults to:

- tickle the piglets tummies. How many can you make roll over?

Wet weather will not spoil play as most activities are under cover. Activities run from 11am-3pm for accompanied children. Please wear clothes and shoes that are suitable for playing outdoors.

18-22 February sees the return of the very popular Create & Grow half-term workshops with two of the most popular woodland creatures - the Owl and the Fox  - taking centre-stage as the types of money box to paint and start saving.   There’s no need to book in advance, just turn up on the day and, subject to availability, you can get painting straight away anytime between 10am-4pm.

  • Paint a terracotta Woodland Creatures Money Box, includes:   
  • Spring Garden Colour by Numbers Competition
  • Butterfly Trail Competition   

Available at all Squire’s Garden Centres (except Chertsey).  Cost: £4.75 per child. 

Children can also enjoy a free Butterfly Trail competition around the centre to learn the names of different types of butterfly and a chance to win a prize in a free prize draw – and there’s a Spring Garden colour by numbers to complete and take home.  All participants receive stickers.

Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

Also, London Bus Museum will be operating bus rides around the local area. Pick up one of our trails for children up to 12 years old or try out our Family Workshop. Brooklands Automotive Museum Course:  Photographing cars, planes and engines Date:  Thursday 21st February 2019 Time:  10.30 – 13.00 Ages:  7-11 Fee:  £39 (Optional additional compact camera hire £5) If your child loves to take photos of motorbikes, cars and planes, this is the course for them! Our photography students will learn how to take a composed, sharp photograph of all the amazing engines, planes and cars at Brooklands Museum. Using famous photographers’ photographs as illustration, we will guide the students through the various ways to compose a great photographic image. We will teach them how their camera works, and which settings are best to use in different situations such as photographing a still image (the Concorde) or photographing a fast moving classic car along the Brooklands track.

Wet weather will not spoil play as most activities are under cover. Activities run from 11am-3pm for accompanied children. Please wear clothes and shoes that are suitable for playing outdoors.

Half-Term Create & Grow workshop at Squire's Garden Centres

18-22 February sees the return of the very popular Create & Grow half-term workshops with two of the most popular woodland creatures - the Owl and the Fox  - taking centre-stage as the types of money box to paint and start saving.   There’s no need to book in advance, just turn up on the day and, subject to availability, you can get painting straight away anytime between 10am-4pm.

  • Spring Garden Colour by Numbers Competition
  • Butterfly Trail Competition   

Available at all Squire’s Garden Centres (except Chertsey).  Cost: £4.75 per child. 

Children can also enjoy a free Butterfly Trail competition around the centre to learn the names of different types of butterfly and a chance to win a prize in a free prize draw – and there’s a Spring Garden colour by numbers to complete and take home.  All participants receive stickers.

Also, London Bus Museum will be operating bus rides around the local area. Pick up one of our trails for children up to 12 years old or try out our Family Workshop. PLUS: Kids tours on Concorde are back, the tour is tailored for our younger audience, with fun and noise encouraged! Limited tours each day, book early to avoid disappointment. Lambing open day at Miller's Ark Animals

Lambing open day at Miller's Ark Animals

On open days visitors can go in to every pen and handle all the animals in a unique and special way.

Members of the team welcome and encourage children and adults to:

- groom baby donkeys and ponies,

- cuddle lambs and baby goats,

- stroke rabbits and guinea pigs on their laps

- hold tiny chicks and ducklings

- tickle the piglets tummies. How many can you make roll over?

If you love animals, you'll love Miller's Ark, whatever the weather as all handling pens are under cover.

Come and Trust10 with us.    Join us for Trust10 which is held on fourth Sunday of each month. This monthly activity is free of charge, meet at 8.30am near the White Bridge where our staff representative will greet you. A runners breakfast deal of a bacon or sausage bap & a regular hot drink for £5.95 will be on offer from 8am.     Meet at White Bridge at 8.30am - the run starts at 9am.   Please ensure you have comfortable running shoes and clothes suitable for running. The Great Brick Safari is coming to RHS Garden Wisley. Search for more than 40 animals and plants in the garden and bothe the temperate and tropical zones of the Glasshouse. There will be loads of information about each animal or plant including their habitat, the food they eat and conservation efforts going on around them. You can also join a bricks making workshop in the Glasshouse Gallery; buy your animal and away you go. As a fun souvenir, have your photo taken in the bricks jeep.

Or get mucky to help the gardeners prepare new flower beds and family tasting garden.
