Be an archaeologist at Bourne Hall Museum

On Saturday 25th May, there will be an open day (11:00-16:00) at Bourne Hall, where the Surrey Archaeological Society, Epsom and Ewell Historical and Archaeological Society and Bourne Hall Museum invite everyone of all ages to come and try archaeology, including digging, sieving and helping to process the finds as part of a live dig. Test pits will be dug to discover what history is hidden below the surface of Bourne Hall Park. The day will include a host of activities – meet Roman legionnaires, try Roman cooking if you dare, and practice some Roman beauty tips. There will be sand trays for the very young archaeologists, a handling collection of finds, and an exhibition of what could be discoveries, so do come along and see what’s going on! You can also bring along finds you have made in your garden and get them identified. It’s all free.

Watts Late: To the Moon and Back

Family Fun Day on The Watercress Line

Enjoy a day of passenger power with the ever-popular Bus & Coach Rally. A whole range of vintage vehicles will be on parade, some of which will be taking visitors for a nostalgic ride through the local lanes. This promises to be a day when a passion for the past takes a front seat. The day will also feature free vintage bus rides and there will be stalls displaying memorabilia.

Spring Bank Holiday at Busbridge Lakes Waterbirds & Gardens

Busbridge Lakes is a grade 2A Heritage garden renowned for its follies, grottoes and magnificent specimen trees.  

The parkland of 40 acres with 3 lakes, nature trails and wooded hillsides with much flora and fauna is the background for one of the largest collections of waterbirds in the country. There are over 80 species of swans, geese and ducks, many endangered, as well as cranes and other exotic birds.

The Great Cockcrow Railway is open every Sunday from 5th May until 27th October. We operate from 1.00pm till 4.30pm with the booking office closing at 4:15pm.

We will also be running on Wednesdays from 4th to 25th August. Trains run from 1:00pm till 4:00pm, with the last tickets being sold at 3.45pm.

For safety reasons children under 2 years cannot be conveyed.
